Whew! It has been a whirlwind around here lately. At the beginning of January, I had a chance to go to Town Hall in Shanghai. Town Hall is Disney English's big, semi-annual meeting (maybe it's quarterly, can't remember). All of the Disney English cast members from the East Region have the opportunity to meet together to hear about the new developments for the company, upcoming events, etc. This time, the General Manager for Disney English, spoke to us as well. It's an exciting time to be a part of the company because when it started in 2008, there weren't even regions. Now there are three: North region with Beijing and its surrounding cities, East region with Shanghai and its surrounding cities, and South region with Guangzhou (there aren't any surrounding cities yet). There's also some centers scheduled for Chengdu which would create a West region.
During the meeting they also recognized outstanding cast members, and gave out awards for other work-related things. One of the girls that works in Nanjing at the other center won 20,000 RMB for an idea she submitted. We also were able to watch a private screening on the new Muppets movie.
Right before the movie, we had a trivia game where each center had a team that got to answer questions. It was really fun to see a huge number of cast members gathered together in China.
